The Regency aesthetic, or #Regencycore, refers to fashion and interior designs inspired by – you guessed it – the Regency era. Whilst this was a very short nine-year reign (1811-1820), it’s fair to say that it left a lasting impression on our history of home design.
Regencycore can be recognised for its signature ornate details, extravagant furniture, and expensive-looking textures. Basically, any room in Bridgerton.
Now, gentle reader, let’s discuss what it takes to transform your modern bedroom into an authentic Regency era-inspired sleep space that’s fit for Lady Whistledown herself, with our Bridgerton-style bedroom ideas…

The Regency era was all about intricate details. Because God forbid we see a plain wall, dear reader! That means before we even think about colours palettes and patterns, we need to pay close attention to your bedroom’s foundations. Look out for anything that resembles fancy ceiling roses, borders, or ornate details around your windows, skirting boards, and radiators.
Of course, most modern homes aren’t fortunate enough to have such details – but that doesn’t mean you can’t add some faux panelling yourself! Even if you pick just one element, you can add so much depth and sophistication to your bedroom, mimicking that iconic Regency character.

Whilst one may associate Bridgerton with upper-class elegance, that doesn’t mean it lacks colour, dear reader. In fact, you can use many different shades in your Bridgerton bedroom colour scheme – just ensure that they’re soft, romantic tones that can easily blend together. That’s the secret.
To keep things cohesive, this author recommends sticking to the same colour families. For instance, similar pastel shades work beautifully together, such as blues and greens or soft, rose pinks and muted oranges.
The regency era nails that busy-but-not style. Patterns that don’t cause headaches. Subtle in colour but detailed in every other way. The drawing room in Bridgerton House is a perfect example, as shown above. To get the look, wallpaper is the key.
Choose an embossed, vintage-style pattern, such as damask. This intricate, repeating pattern was seen in many fashionable homes in the Regency period and is the epitome of luxury. Choose a quiet colour (like Violet Bridgerton’s signature blue) and let the pattern bring the grandeur to your sleep space. Flawless, my dear.
There’s nothing this author loves more than a grand bed frame. For a modern twist on the Regency style, choose a statement piece like the Ronnie Upholstered Bed Frame. Whilst this gorgeous frame features those signature curves and charm that you’d typically see on a Bridgerton bed, it’s wrapped in a smooth, velvet-touch fabric for an extra hint of luxury.
Or, for something even more opulent, why not treat yourself to a beautiful four-poster bed, like our Sophie Conran Arbor Four Poster Bed? Just like our Ronnie bed, the Arbor is inspired by the classic Regency-style, but features beautifully sleek, minimalist lines, making it the perfect choice for contemporary living.
Generations of mamas will tell you that there’s a right way to dress a bed – and this author concurs! Beginning with your base, ensure to add a plush mattress topper for an added layer of luxury. Next comes your top sheet (an essential layer) and your duvet. We suggest dressing your duvet with high-quality bedding, such as sumptuous silk or satin, and finishing with a heavy quilt at the end of the bed. To decorate, stack your pillows in size order – largest at the back, smallest at the front. This draws the eye forward and keeps everything uniform.
La pièce de résistance? A grand canopy! Take a look at how we’ve styled our beautiful Mira bed for a superb example. All you need is a piece of fabric, some hooks, and nails to have your very own royal cocoon.
If you’ve always dreamt of spending hours preening yourself at a gorgeous Bridgerton-style dressing table, now’s your chance! It’s easy to create your very own vanity station. All you need is a wooden desk or dresser and an ornate mirror – no maid required.
To style, present your favourite necklaces and earrings on an opulent mirrored trinket tray, next to your signature scent, a hairbrush, and any other everyday essentials you may need. Light a candle and display some fresh flowers if you’re feeling particularly whimsical.
For your seat, add a cute little pouffe to perch on (and stash away your clutter), like our sweet Sophie Conran Lulabelle Upholstered Storage Pouffe. It’s elegant, fits neatly under any dresser, and is all wrapped up in a little bow. How exquisite!
Every young lord or lady deserves to have a seat in their room for lounging. Whether you’re a bookworm like Eloise and love to curl up with your latest read, or you simply want somewhere to relax, an armchair is an ideal piece to have in your bedroom. Simply position it in the corner of the room or under your window, and you have a ready-made cosy nook. Rather dazzling, isn’t it?
As this author knows, the window in your bedroom can be most important. Whether you like to pass the time by reading, working on your tapestry, or keeping an eye on your neighbours, creating a comfy window seat is an ideal use of space and light.
If you have a roomy alcove under your window, you could position a beautiful sofa bed there for snug daytime dreaming. Or, add a compact bench and pile it with stunning scatter cushions to create the same effect. To finish, dress your windows with some elegant drapes that you can dramatically open when you wake up in the morning. This author approves!
If, like this author, you’re a fan of having a workspace in your bedroom, it’s incredibly easy to set up. Simply choose a zone, add an antique bureau and a comfortable chair, maybe a soft rug – and voila! Whether you plan on working from home, browsing trends on Pinterest or writing letters to your friends about the latest ton scandal, now you have the perfect place to do it! Don’t forget your quill and ink…
Just like the Queen’s fondness for diamonds, it’s important to let your bedroom shine. We are, of course, talking about accessories! To add some Bridgerton-style finishing touches to your boudoir, we’d recommend opting for gold fixtures where possible. For example, ornate gold picture frames, gold light fittings, and gold-framed mirrors. Candlesticks are another great (and cost-effective) way to add some Bridgerton flair to your bedside tables.
If you’d prefer accessories with a vintage look, try thrifting! There are so many wonderful treasures to be found in second-hand stores. Or, if you have a special family heirloom to display, this is the perfect opportunity to give it a home.
Top tip: To make your picture frame look like it’s from the Regency era, apply a coat of gilding wax to the frame, and watch in awe as it magically goes back in time.
Are you the lady of the house? Perhaps, like Lady Bridgerton, you have a penchant for soft pastels, like cornflower blue or lilac? If so, you’re more than likely destined to be a Bridgerton. For you, the drawing (living) room is the most important space in the house. It’s calm, light and airy, and has plenty of seating space for the whole family to relax in, have tea, practice their pianoforte, or patiently wait for callers…

It’s no exaggeration that the Featheringtons are fans of one particular shade: yellow. Of course, this is not for the faint-hearted, gentle reader. Drenching your walls in a brave shade such as this is certainly a bold take on the Regency aesthetic. However, it’s come to our attention that the extraverted shade ’chartreuse’ is exceedingly popular this year. So, Lady Featherington may have been on to something, after all this time…
If you’re not afraid of leaning into a little maximalism, the Featherington home could just be the best inspiration for you.

More of a traditionalist? You don’t need to read the society papers to know that Lord and Lady Cowper are sticklers for the rules. So when it comes to home decorating, the Cowper house is as neat as a pin. In contrast to their Mayfair neighbours, the Cowper home has a far darker colour palette, which adds luxury but may come across as rather intimidating to some visitors. Each to their own, we say…

And with that, our lessons in Bridgerton-inspired bedroom designs come to a close. Now, dear reader, you have all the tools required to add some Regency flair and, we dare say, opulence to your modern bedroom chambers. Until next time…
Yours Truly, Lady Whistledown.
