What size is a small double bed?

Are small double beds suitable for two people?

Yes, but it feels snug. If you sleep close to your partner and don't move much during the night, a small double works fine. If either of you fidgets, overheats or needs personal space while sleeping, a standard double bed (4ft 6in wide) will be more comfortable.
