A single bed is 6 feet and 3 inches (190cm) long and 3 feet (91cm) wide. Sometimes referred to as a twin bed, single bed frames help to maximise the room in small spaces. Single sized beds work well in many bedrooms, especially for guestrooms and children’s rooms. If your bedroom is very narrow, you may want to consider a small single bed instead, as these are 16cm narrower than a standard single bed frame, at 75cm wide.
Single sized beds are suitable for adults, whether this be an occasional place to sleep for guests, or if you have a small room and want to maximise your space. Although, if you’re tall or broad, a single might be a bit too cramped for you, so it would be worth considering a small double bed if you still need to save on space. Couples will also want to look at larger bed sizes, as a single bed can only fit one adult comfortably.
Our single beds come in a range of styles and designs, ready to suit your requirements. Whether you’re after storage, accessibility or practicality in terms of design, we have a 3ft single bed to match.
Many people think that you can only find storage beds in larger sizes, but storage beds are available in single size too. There are two main types of storage beds we offer in this size:
Ottoman single beds
Ottomans consist of an easy‐lift base, which will give you an incredible amount of storage in a space that would otherwise be wasted. It’s a common misconception that Ottoman beds are only available from size double and up, but this type of bed is available as a single bed. When people opt for an ottoman single bed, it’s usually because their room isn’t big enough for a double or they want to maximise their storage space. This makes a single ottoman bed a top space-saving solution, ideal for making the most of floor space in smaller rooms due to its underbed storage.
Divan single beds
With similar storage benefits to an ottoman, a single Divan base can make the difference when you’re trying to maximise space. Featuring drawers as part of the design, a single divan helps to keep a smaller room clutter‐free. These drawers are often used for hiding away extra bedding, clothing or shoes. Divan bases give you real versatility when it comes to organising your bedroom.
If you’re looking for a temporary bed, guest beds are a great option. Although a standard single will easily work as a guest bed that doesn’t take up much room, we also have beds that are specifically designed to be guest beds. These include air beds, day beds or pull-out beds. Not only do these types of beds offer good levels of comfort, but they’re also easy to set up and can be hidden away when not in use, which makes them perfect for multi-functional rooms. Practical and comfortable, single guest beds only take up floor space while in use, and fold away neatly. Some popular guest bed options available in this size are:
Single day beds
Day beds are designed with practicality in mind. Not only do they serve as a comfortable place to sleep, but they also provide a sofa-style seating area. These single bed frames work well in smaller sized bedrooms and guestrooms. They’re even great for living rooms as they’re a cross between a chaise longue and a bed. A dual-purpose solution, single day beds negate the need for two pieces of large furniture when space is limited. Available in neutral colours, such as a single white day bed, this style can fit seamlessly into almost any room.
Folding single beds
If you only very occasionally have guests and don’t want to dedicate a room to being a guestroom all year round, a folding 3ft single bed makes a great choice. When not in use, these beds can be folded up and stored vertically, freeing up your floor space. Folding beds are also great value if you’re not wanting a bed as the main feature of a room.
For a child’s room, a single bed can make a great choice. For children, a standard single bed is often the final step to their ‘big bed’. This size can be a great choice for a teenager’s room, or an older child that’s ready for a full-size bed. As well as the functionality of the bed, how your single bed looks is just as important. From intricate, vintage-inspired frames, to traditional wooden options, we offer an abundance of styles.
If you’re wanting to add a bit of luxury to your bedroom, an upholstered bed in this size is a top pick. For the ultimate decadence, choose a faux leather bed. We have upholstered beds available in adventurous colours such as pink beds, which make an eye-catching centre piece, or neutral hues to complement more pared-back interior themes, such as a Scandi.
If you’re looking for a more traditional style, a metal bed in this size offers an ornate look. Available in industrial silver beds or even black beds that can be used to create a bold bedroom style. Another traditional style is a classic wooden bed. The warm hues can help to create a cosy shabby-chic French château look. Or if you’re looking for a white single bed, you can find painted white beds in wood too.
Whatever type of single bed you need; you’ll most likely find it at Dreams. We offer great benefits in terms of guarantees and quality assurance, so you can be rest assured knowing you’re in good hands.
