What size traditional spring mattresses are available?

Our spring mattresses come in all UK sizes, whether you need a space-saving option or extra room to stretch out:

For those with longer legs, our euro single spring mattresses offer 10cm more legroom than a standard single. For the little ones, we have spring mattresses for toddlers at 2'4 wide and cots at 2'0 wide.

What traditional spring mattress firmness levels are available, and are they suitable for my sleeping position?

Our open spring mattresses have medium, firm, and very firm comfort levels. If you're a side sleeper, choose a medium spring mattress, as these provide the best balance of comfort and support. For back sleepers, a firm traditional spring mattress offers better spinal alignment. Finally, choose a very firm open spring mattress for the most support for back pain for back and stomach sleepers.

How does a spring mattress support spinal alignment and relieve pressure points?

Traditional spring mattresses are made with open-coil or Bonnel springs. They support the entire sleeping area, help distribute weight evenly and are paired with pressure-relieving technology to reduce strain.

This, of course, depends on what your mattress is made of:

• Spring mattresses with less than 800 springs offer a firmer feel with basic support.
• Spring mattresses with 800-1199 springs provide better contouring, helping to keep the spine aligned and reducing pressure on the shoulders, hips, and lower back.
• Spring mattresses with a pillow top layer add extra cushioning and targeted pain relief.

What's the difference between a spring and a pocket sprung mattress?

The difference lies in how the springs are designed and how they provide support. A traditional spring mattress uses a single, interconnected spring system, creating a firmer feel for budget-friendly buyers. A pocket sprung mattress usually has a higher spring count, all individually wrapped in fabric, which provides better body support and less motion transfer if you sleep with a partner.

Should I choose a spring or foam mattress?

Traditional spring mattresses are best for those who prefer a more supportive feel with a bit of bounce. They are made with open-coil springs, which offer spinal alignment, better motion transfer, durability, and airflow, which helps to keep you cool at night.

However, a memory foam mattress may be better if you prefer a body-hugging feel. These mattresses mould to your body, providing pressure relief. They are often softer mattresses but aren't as good at wicking away heat and moisture.
