How does a chair bed work?

Like the bed frame, the mattresses are accessible via easy fold or pull. This makes the go-to option for practicality, especially when you need that extra space.

When your small sofa bed is finished with, it’s super easy to return it back to a sofa. The automatic spring or hinge mechanisms enable you to put it away just as easy as setting up. There are generally two types of mechanism for chair beds and small sofa beds – A-frame and Lift-and- Pull.

An A-Frame sofa bed uses a hinge mechanism. This means that the back-rest of the sofa will drop down to create a bed. The nature of their designs means you’ll have to pull the sofa away from a wall or alcove before dropping the backrest. That makes A-Frames most popular for open plan spaces where there are no restrictions. If you’re planning on placing your new chair bed against a wall, you’re better choosing a Lift-and-Pull.

Lift-and-Pull small sofa beds have a bed frame inside the seating area. This means the bed extends without the sofa needing to be moved. Simply remove the seat cushions and then use a quick pull handle to access the bed frame. Using spring technology, the mattress and frame will automatically open, totally stress-free.
