Bring the stadium to your home this summer with our match-night set up ideas.
With the summer games just around the corner, home nation footie fans are thinking about when and where they’ll be watching this year’s tournament.
Since the 2026 football World Cup is being hosted across the USA, Canada, and Mexico this year, we’ve got multiple time zones to contend with, as kick-off times range from 20:00 to 02:00 BST!
According to data collected by Dreams this month*, 30% of people would sacrifice their normal bedtime routine to watch a World Cup match live on TV. So, it’s more than likely that many of us will be tuning into the tournament from home – but that’s no reason to compromise on comfort. In this article, we’ll share our best design tips and inspiration on how to create the ultimate World Cup set up. From choosing the perfect seating to half-time comforts, we’ve got everything you need to prep for the much-awaited summer of football.
The wait is almost over! The next World Cup officially begins on 11th June 2026, with the opening match taking place in Mexico (Mexico vs South Africa), running right through until the long-awaited final on 19th July 2026.
The tournament will be available to watch live on both BBC and ITV, as well as free streaming platforms. Many pubs and restaurants will be staying open later to show the games too, but if you ask us, staying in is best. We may be biased, but we think a summer of late kick-offs is the perfect excuse for a big night in.
It seems many people agree with us, too. In fact, 33% of people we surveyed have watched a late-night game at a friend’s or family’s home, and 34% would consider doing it again this year.
So, what are you waiting for? Pop your PJs on, roll out the sofa bed (or maybe invest in a brand new TV bed) and get cosy – because 90 minutes is far too long to be uncomfortable.
Now, let’s run through our best design tips for creating the perfect at-home World Cup viewing experience…

Forget the makeshift footstools, this summer we’re all about comfortable viewing – and what better way to settle in for those long, late-night matches than with a snazzy sofa bed?
Take our Cosmopolitan Armagh 3-Seater Corner Pull-Out Sofa Bed, for instance. This large corner sofa has plenty of room for friends and family to stretch out on, as well as an easy pull-out mechanism to transform it into a full-size double bed, so you don’t have to move anywhere to go to sleep after those late-night games. Plus, it even has handy cup holders for your half-time refreshments! Absolute scenes, folks.
We asked… You told us:
As our survey results show, there are lots of reasons why many households will be sleeping separately during this year’s World Cup. With a proper sofa bed, you can create a cosy viewing nook in a separate room, whilst your partner can get their well-earned forty winks. No arguments, no missed penalties. Everybody wins!
Psst! If you like the sound of that, you’re going to love our snore room guide…
Need a new sofa?
Are you part of the 29% who admit they’re likely to fall asleep with the TV on during a late-night game? Or maybe you’re just more of a bed-rot kinda footie fan? Consider this your best excuse to invest in an innovative TV bed, like our fabulous Turin Velvet-Finish LG TV Bed Frame. Wrapped in luxurious velvet-touch fabric, this opulent TV bed has a sleek, LG 32″ SMART LED TV hidden in the foot end, meaning you’ll have the best seat in the house.
Plus, TV beds are ideal for those who like to keep a tidy bedroom. With one touch of a button on the wireless remote, your screen will seamlessly slot out of sight, and nobody would even know it’s there. Of course, only when the ref blows the final whistle…
Everybody hates screen glare – especially when it comes to interrogating the offside rule. So, to ensure your view is crystal clear, upgrade your windows with blackout blinds. You’ll be surprised by what can sneak through the curtains, even after dark – street lights, moving cars and so on. Distraction-free viewing this way.
Top tip: Blackout blinds will also come in extremely handy when it’s time to finally get some post-match snooze. We really have thought of everything!
Don’t forget about the ambience – yep, even for watching the footie. Especially for those late-night matches, it’s nice to settle down in a low-lit environment. Low lighting can even help you drift off easier when the whistle blows!
If you have handy dimmer switches, now’s a great opportunity to test them out. Otherwise, turn the big lights off and switch on some cosy lamps to create the same atmosphere. A nice scented candle would also add to the vibes and may even help with the pre-match nerves… just a thought!
Now you’ve got the perfect soccer set up, here are our 3 top tips to maximise your at-home viewing experience…
We all know how distracting phones can be. To fully immerse yourself in the match, create a “no phone zone” and keep smartphones in another room. This way, you can enjoy the beautiful game without any distractions, and you won’t miss a second of the action! And OK, we’ll allow half-time check-ins with friends…
Since the tournament is being hosted across the pond this year, late-night kick-offs are guaranteed. That means you’ll need some suitable snacks to keep you going past midnight! To have some fun with it, get creative and make some themed snacks. This could be traditional foods from whichever country is playing, or, if you want to stay patriotic, we’re sure a warm Pukka pie wouldn’t go amiss…
There’s nothing worse than experiencing last-minute tech problems. To avoid any panic, make sure to check that your TV, streaming connection, and sound are all working as they should be in advance.
With our match-night set up ideas, you’re all sorted for the big summer tournament. Whether you’re inviting mates over for a World Cup viewing party or simply planning some cosy late-night watching with your other half, there’s so much fun to be had this season. Let the games begin!
