Don’t be spotted in a bland bedroom design – add some animal prints to lean into your adventurous side…

Animal print has long been used in our interiors. It’s bold, striking and, let’s face it, pretty fun too. Whether you love it or hate it, this controversial pattern is certainly a conversation starter.

Whilst leopard print has been back on the radar for the last year, we’re now seeing home decorators get more and more experimental with their animal prints – using everything from zebra to cow prints.

So, if you like to stay ahead of the curve when it comes to interior trends, this guide to mastering animal print bedroom decor is for you. In this blog, we’ll show you some fresh ways to incorporate animal prints in your bedroom design, with tips such as introducing accents and statement accessories for a cool, rustic look.

Ready to take a walk on the wild side of interior design? Let’s pounce…

Is animal print fashionable in 2025?

It sure is! Whilst animal print tends to go in and out of style every few years, it’s fair to say that 2024 saw the trend back in full force, with absolutely everyone favouring spots and stripes – on the runway, in street style, and even creeping into our home decor.

As we’ve mentioned, leopard print in particular made a huge comeback last year, with every man and his dog buying a pair of leopard print jeans (come on, we know you’re guilty…). Now, it looks like animal print is here to stay for 2025.

What are the most popular animal prints right now?

Whilst 2024 was the year of the leopard, this year animal prints are set to get a sophisticated makeover. We’re expecting more alternative patterns, such as cheetah, tiger, zebra, snake, and even cow, all popping up in both fashion and interiors.

Plus, the way we use animal print in our decor will be different, too. Gone are the days of loud, excessive prints that are sure to give you a headache as you’re drifting off to sleep. Instead, 2025 will be the year of making safari chic, with new and interesting ways to inject animal print into your bedroom design for a sophisticated aesthetic.

Animal print bedroom ideas

Ready to unleash the jungle into your bedroom design? Here are eight ways to introduce animal print into your sleep space…

1. Start with bold bedding

An easy place to start experimenting with your wild side is through your bedding. There are plenty of different options on the market, plus they can be fairly inexpensive, and you don’t need to make any permanent changes! If you decide it’s not for you, you can easily switch up your animal print bedding – though we don’t think you will…

To ease yourself in, why not start with plain bed linens, such as brown or white, and style with animal print patterned cushions? Then, add some blankets in similar, complementary tones to your animal print, like Dreams’ Interiors Expert, Whinnie Williams, has done here. By coordinating similar shades, you can tie everything together and instantly elevate your bed. Or, if you dare, go all out with a leopard print duvet cover and pillowcases. Again, you can dress these sheets with similar toned blankets and cushions to create that put-together look.

2. Invest in a statement bed

Why not take it one step further and go for an animal print bed? Our super stylish TheraPur® Shallow Ottoman Divan Bed Base comes in both fierce leopard print and cool, grey zebra print. Both patterns are purrfect for adding some animal flair.

Having a statement animal print bed is the ultimate way to showcase your personality and create a fun and dramatic focal point in your bedroom. Plus, it’s easier to style than you think! Yes, that’s right – leopard print is a neutral.  Whilst this bold print is anything but boring, its muted tones pair well with lots of different colours, meaning you can have fun with your bedding and dress it in lots of different shades of bed sheets, blankets and cushions. Get adventurous!

P.S. Did we mention both divan bases come with matching headboards

3. Animal print rugs

If there’s one staple animal print accessory that can totally transform a space, it’s a statement cow hide rug. With bags of character, but somehow still a cool, understated edge, a cow rug is the perfect option for those that want to dabble in maximalist decor.

Lay your rug to the side or at the bottom of your bed, so it becomes a real feature in your bedroom. Alternatively, if you have a smaller room, you could place your rug underneath your bed, so that the edges are just peeking out.

4. Add an accent chair

What about furniture? A statement armchair looks particularly sophisticated in a bedroom. Instead of classic leopard print, smaller accent pieces create an opportunity to pick something a little more avant-garde. Going for a zebra print armchair is a cool way to make a bold statement, without overwhelming your space with too much pattern.

5. Go for dopamine decor instead

If you’re nervous about diving into a full renovation job, how about some splashes of animal print decor, instead? Luckily, since the leopard print revival, there are endless accessories adorned with big cat prints – and every other animal in the jungle.

Think leopard print cushions, like these beautiful frilly ones from Damson Madder, a snake print lampshade, or cheetah-inspired artwork for your walls. By opting for smaller doses of dopamine decor, you can still let your personality shine through, but in a subtler fashion.

6. Introduce some greenery

Houseplants make for an excellent bedroom accessory and are an easy fix to bring some interesting features into a space – not to mention their amazing air purifying properties.

To match the jungle theme, we’d suggest some tropical houseplants, such as monstera, pothos, orchids and birds of paradise, to grow your very own indoor tropical rainforest! Watch out for monkeys…

Animal print themes

Sometimes, when too many different design styles are used in one room, the space can begin to feel confused and overwhelming. To avoid this, we’d recommend picking a theme for your animal print bedroom and committing to it.

Some themes we love to pair with the animal print decor trend are:

  • #MobWife Aesthetic: The 1980s were all about bold, garish patterns, and leopard print was pretty much the poster child of ‘80s style. Now, we have Gen Z to thank for once again bringing the daring #MobWife aesthetic back into style. To add some eighties volume into your animal print room, think plenty of textures like fur throws, deep shades such as reds and purples, and extravagant silk bedsheets.
  • Wild, Wild West: Another design trend that’s steeped in animal prints is Country Western style. Think cow print rugs, snake print, black leather accents, rustic wooden furniture, and as many potted cacti plants as you can fit on your windowsill. Yee haw, cowboy!
  • 90s Minimalism: Or, how about something a little more Kate Moss-esque? Striking a balance between understated elegance and rocker chic, animal prints can be seamlessly incorporated into a minimalist 1990s-inspired bedroom. We’re talking sleek, clean lines, crisp white bedding, a glamorous silver chandelier and a statement zebra rug.

Complementary colours for animal print

Now you’ve picked out your statement animal print pieces, you need to think about the rest of your room. Depending on how daring you want to go, you can take your colour palette in a few different directions.

For some, animal print is already enough of a statement, and they want to stick to as many neutrals as possible. Most classic prints, such as leopard, come in brown and black shades. So, to create a nice balance in your bedroom, stick to neutrals like white, cream, or other brown shades. This will help your animal print blend into the rest of your bedroom design and create a harmonious feel.

For those that want even more of a statement, why not go for a complementary colour? Bold pops of red look amazing in contrast to the warm brown tones of most animal prints, as do strong colours like electric blue and green

Using animal print in your bedroom decor needn’t be daunting. With clever placements and the right styling, you can create a fierce yet friendly bedroom that is bold enough that you want to show off to your guests but can’t wait to go to sleep in come nighttime.
