Awesome themed bedroom ideas for kids

Kids can be hard to please, especially when it comes to decorating their bedrooms. A bedroom is a personal space, so it’s no wonder they want to put their own stamp on it.

However, this can lead to neon coloured walls, clashing wallpaper and something they’ll grow out of very quickly. With that in mind, we’ve put together some ideas for creating fun and popular kids’ bedroom themes, so they get the awesome bedroom they want, and you can feel confident it will grow with them.

1. Under the sea or beach theme bedroom

Kids love the seaside, so an underwater theme is a great way to spark their imaginations.

There are quick and easy ways to introduce it:

• Decorate the walls blue and white to symbolise the sea (you could add waves, if you’re feeling creative).
• Add plenty of sea creatures – painted or stencilled on the walls.
• Introduce nautical-themed touches like bedding and lamps. These are fun ways to create the underwater theme and can be replaced easily when your child’s tastes change.

2. Pastel neutrals and patterns

Play around with pastels for a soft and dreamy bedroom backdrop. Here’s how to do it:

• Think powder pink, baby blue, butter yellow, lovely lilac or gorgeous mint green.

• Display memorabilia of their favourite team.
• Add removable football-themed decals to help tie the look together.

Gaming-mad kids and teens alike will love this high-tech hideaway, complete with slick lights and plenty of storage for tech.

Here’s how to create an awesome digital den:

• Go bold with colours, particularly reds, blacks, greys and blues.
• Take some inspiration from the industrial when it comes to wallpaper and flooring – minimalism contrasts stylishly with a high-tech finish.
• Deck it out with fun accessories, including a gaming bed, gaming chair, bright lights and some fun prints to make it distinctly theirs.

5. Summer safari or jungle theme bedroom

Kids are fascinated by animals, from trips to the zoo to spotting bunnies along the side of the road.

Here are some tips for a safari or jungle-themed bedroom, including plenty of your child’s favourite animals:

• Get creative with cute monkey curtain tiebacks, a jungle-themed growth chart and animal string lights and bunting.
