King Size Beds & Bed Frames

What are the dimensions of a king size bed frame?

A king size bed measures 5ft x 6ft6in (150cm x 200cm). However, the dimensions of your king size bed frame may vary depending on the bed style, any built-in storage compartments, and additional features like headboards or footboards. Be sure to check the exact dimensions of the bed you're buying to ensure it's the perfect fit for your bedroom. Take a look at our bed and mattress size guide for more help and information.

Is my bedroom big enough for a king bed frame?

This depends. Before purchasing, measure your room carefully. Allow at least 60cm of space around the frame to move comfortably and prevent your room from feeling cramped, especially if your king bed includes drawers or ottoman storage. A little more is better, so aim for 60cm to 70cm if you can.

Remember that the frame is bigger than the mattress. A headboard, footboard or side rails can add several centimetres each way, so measure the king size bed frame itself, not just the mattress.
