1. Dark green bedrooms

Deep shades of green can bring drama to your master bedroom and create an air of sophistication.

In the room pictured above, we’ve painted the walls in deep olive green and added the warm tones of a wooden bed frame. With an intense colour dominating the walls and ceiling, we’ve kept the rest of the room simple and neutral.

The frame is a low-rise minimalist style made of ash wood and veneer. It has raised slim legs and rounded corners to match the Woodstock bedside table. We’ve added a splash of colour to the bedding with a burnt orange throw and cushion, as we think this earthy shade looks great against olive green.

If you like strong colours but want to create a more luxurious feel in your bedroom, another dark green shade to consider is emerald. Its jewel-coloured tone creates an opulent vibe that works well with indulgent metallics. Dark grey-green is a contemporary choice with a relaxing feel.

2. Light green bedrooms

Light shades of green can make a bedroom feel brighter and more spacious.

Our faux leather bed frame, shown above, has been styled in a mint green bedroom. This soft shade contrasts nicely with the dark chocolate brown frame. The rest of the bedroom’s interior has a light colour palette for a fresh, airy look that creates a sense of calm.

The curtains, blinds, and bedding are white to match the bedside lights, and the carpet is neutral beige with a tonal rug. If you’re not a fan of dark or bright colours, this is an understated way to introduce green into your bedroom.

3. Soothing sage bedrooms

Popular shades of sage green remain on-trend, and we’ve paired it with the dark wooden tones and a beige upholstered bed for a calming, elegant look.

Beautiful floral accents bring the outside in, and we’ve chosen bedding and accessories in neutral and muted tones. We wanted the statement scrolled headboard and sage green walls to be the room’s focal points.

4. Create a cool-toned blue-green sanctuary

Sampling the cooler side of the green colour palette introduces versatile shades of blue and grey to create a peaceful space.

Pairing steel blue with soft green tones is a sophisticated way to add depth without overwhelming the senses. These hues work especially well in low-light or north-facing bedrooms, where their muted blue undertones enhance the natural ambience. For added texture and warmth, layer in natural materials like linen, rattan, or brushed metal accents.

6. Organic greenery

Nature in your bedroom can refresh the space, and incorporating living plants is a fantastic way to achieve that.

Think about strategically situating various bedroom plants around your room. Add ferns and snake plants, which not only purify the air but also have beautiful green hues.

Place plants on windowsills, suspend planters to create depth, or opt for a large statement plant for a corner of the room. Mix these elements of nature with simple wooden furniture to complement an earthy atmosphere.

7. Modernist green panelling

Create a contemporary and structured look in your bedroom with green bedroom panelling.

This design choice is a contemporary twist on traditional wall treatments and sets the perfect stage for a minimalist aesthetic. Paint it deep emerald or soft sage as illustrated below. Isn’t it gorgeous?

Velvet fabric beds and soft satin bedding, in greys or bright whites, can neutralise the green. These subtle colours anchor the palette and let more assertive design features, such as the panelling, take centre stage.

Is green a good colour for the bedroom?

Yes! Green is a calming and warm colour for a bedroom due to its rejuvenating and soothing qualities. That’s probably because we often associate green with the outdoors, fresh air, and nature, which naturally promote relaxation and mental clarity.

Studies have shown that green hues can reduce stress and improve your well-being, making them ideal for creating a tranquil, restorative space. Green is a fabulous choice for your sleep space, whether a soft sage for serenity or a deeper emerald for richness, applied to walls, upholstery, or accents.

What colours go well with a green bedroom?

Green is versatile – that’s one of the reasons we love it so much! Here are some fabulous green colour schemes:

1. Grey: The neutral hues of grey balance the vibrancy of green, making them the perfect pair for master suites and even guest rooms.
2. Gold: The warm metallic tones of gold complement the deep, earthy qualities of green. Add mirrors, lamps, or even gold drawer handles.
3. Blush pink: This gentle, muted pink adds warmth and balance to the coolness of green, softening the overall look.
4. Mustard yellow: This striking combination works particularly well in eclectic or bohemian-inspired interiors, where bold, contrasting colours are celebrated.
5. Navy blue: Green and navy look amazing in larger bedrooms where you want to make a statement.
