Natural Mattresses
Natural mattresses are made without any synthetic fabrics. Instead, natural fillings such as cotton, wool or bamboo are used. You can be sure that a natural mattress will keep you cool and moisture-free throughout the night, without losing out on lifespan or variety in size and comfort grade.
You can’t have a good night’s sleep without a great mattress. Natural mattresses are more popular now than ever for both personal and environmental reasons. As the name suggests, a natural mattress is made from materials that are grown or sourced from nature. This means there are no synthetic fabrics, only natural fibres. Coming in different styles to suit every sleep position, there’s bound to be an all-natural mattress that’s right for you.
What are the types of natural mattress?
Just like regular mattresses, there are different compositions of natural mattress depending on your needs. There are several different natural fibres available in our range, each with its own benefits, but all comfy. You can choose from wool, cotton, mohair, bamboo, hemp, alpaca and natural latex in our natural mattress range
All the natural mattresses in the Dreams range have pocket springs as well as the natural fibre to give you support when sleeping. Pocket springs work by encasing individual springs into their fabric pouch. This separates them and allows them to work on their own, so they can contour to your body and support every joint. This makes natural mattresses the perfect combination of traditional and luxury mattresses.
What are the benefits of natural mattresses?
The most significant and most obvious benefit that natural mattresses have to offer is that they’re made from natural materials and so can be more eco-friendly than other mattresses. This is especially important for those concerned with the environmental implications of human-made fabrics and also those who want to ensure a healthy sleep environment. Another plus point is that, being made from natural materials, they tend to be better for those with sensitive skin, as they are much less likely to irritate.
Each natural fabric has its own beneficial qualities too:
Wool – controls moisture, is antibacterial, breathable and is fire-retardant
Cotton – wicks away moisture from the body to ensure a refreshing night’s sleep
Mohair – comfortable and silky, as well as being antibacterial
Bamboo – Antibacterial and robust
Hemp - breathable and absorbent, as well as being environmentally friendly
Alpaca – Antibacterial and springy
Natural latex – dust mite resistant, hypoallergenic and reduces heat build-up
A natural mattress will usually have a combination of these materials, as well as pocket springs. The combination of these products within natural mattresses ensures they are durable, strong, hygienic and comfortable. Most natural mattresses include wool and cotton which work together to keep you cool in the summer and warm in the winter. They also wick away moisture from your body which keeps the mattress dry and therefore allows it to last longer.
Our natural mattresses are available in a range of comfort grades too, so are suitable for various sleeping positions.
