Your bed is the centrepiece to your bedroom and the most important piece of furniture within it. Beds give us a place to relax and snuggle up but, most importantly, provide us with a place to sleep and restore energy. With so many different beds and bed frames on offer, it can be difficult finding one that suits your needs, décor and budget. Dreams have an extensive range of beds for sale, categorised into different sections for your ease.

Choosing the right bed size

Beds come in various sizes depending on how big your room is or how many people will be sleeping in the room. The standard sizes are single, double and king. For rooms that are particularly strapped for space, or for young children, a small single might be a better option. If you want something just a bit bigger than a single bed, you might choose to opt for a small double. Finally, if you want the height of comfort and luxury, a super king bed and mattress will definitely do the trick.

Types of bed

The type of bed you need will depend on many different factors. If you’re on a tight budget you might decide to look for lower cost options rather than finding one that you fall in love with. You’ll also need to consider your décor style, room requirements and space in the bedroom.

From simple country classics to sophisticated leather covered sleigh beds, Dreams stock beds and bed frames to suit every style and budget. Wooden beds suit rustic or farmhouse aesthetics, while upholstered beds look great in vintage and opulent bedrooms.

Choosing the Right Bed Colour

As well as types, colours are also important when it comes to buying a new bed. You’ll want to match the colour of the bed to the general aesthetics of the room. For the majority of the time, you’ll want your bed to remain neutral in colour, using accessories and bedding to create contrast and statements. White beds and grey beds are perfect for this kind of styling. However, using neutral hues for your bed isn’t for everyone. Some people like to create unique statements. If this is the case, don’t be afraid to branch and out experiment with bolder colours.

TV & Tech Beds

If you need a complete solution modern bed, a TV bed will be perfect for you. These have a TV in the foot-end which is raised and lowered using a remote control. Or, if you want a bed and mattress combination that fits perfectly, choose a divan bed. These bases come with a mattress saving you time and effort.

Adjustable beds

Adjustable beds are great for those with mobility issues or disabilities. These beds are controlled by a set of buttons which bring the mattress up or down, so you don’t have to struggle to pull yourself up.

Storage beds

Most bedrooms need as much extra storage space as they can get. The best storage beds which offer the most extra space are undoubtedly ottoman styles. In these beds, the mattress lifts up from the bottom or the side revealing a useful area beneath for you to store whatever you like. Using the space between the mattress and the floor, which is usually neglected, means you can fit plenty of things inside, freeing up valuable cupboard space elsewhere. Divan beds also have drawers underneath for the same purpose.

Kids bedrooms usually need even more storage space than adults’ due to the number of toys and other things they have. Cabin beds are ideal for kid’s rooms where space is at a premium as they incorporate drawers, shelves and cupboards beneath the bed. This means you’ll keep your precious floor space without having to compromise on storage space.

Guest beds

Finding somewhere for guests to stay can be tricky, especially if you don’t have a spare bedroom. A sofa bed can alleviate that worry, providing a comfortable place to sit during the day and a sleep solution should anyone come to stay.

For kids who have regular sleepovers, a bunk bed will work well in their room. This won’t take up any extra floor space but will still provide two full size single beds to sleep in. Alternatively, you could choose a pull-out bed which slides underneath their bed and stores away neatly.
