Mattress Guide - Comfort

Did you know that we spend over a third of our lives in bed? That’s longer than we spend sitting on the sofa, sat in our favourite chair or in our cars. But we pay surprisingly little attention to the mattress that we will spend so much time lying on! A good mattress should support our bodies perfectly in the upmost comfort so we wake refreshed and ready to face the day. As we’re all different sleeping on the perfect mattress every night means selecting the correct one that suits your needs, this guide will help you do just that.

Finding a mattress that is just right for you

What is comfortable for one person may not be comfortable for someone else. We’re all built differently and the mattress which gives one person the best sleep may not be suitable for another. At Dreams we’ve given each of our mattresses a comfort grade, ranging from 1 to 5. The higher the number the softer the mattress will be. The scale is specific to us and will hopefully help you find the most suitable mattress for you. A firmer mattress will be in the 1-2 scale and softer ones between 4-5.

1 ORTHOPEADIC / VERY FIRM
Mattress Guide • Available in open spring and pocket spring mattresses
• Best if you sleep on your back
An orthopaedic mattress is designed to provide maximum comfort to your body while also working to gently support your back and joints. It will provide a high level of support to the weight bearing parts of your body, such as the neck, the back, the hips and the lower extremities. Lying on an orthopaedic mattress will help with back issues as it gives better support to the back and the whole body not allowing the midsection to sink in.

Did you know...

... the term “sleep tight” dates back to Tudor times, when beds were a wooden frame with a latticework of rope or leather to support the mattress. Occasionally these ropes of leather straps would have to be tightened to prevent the mattress from falling on the floor.
